Introducing a must-visit new recreational spot in Chiang Mai – the picturesque Mae Kha Canal Walking Path. This historical canal, with a history spanning over 700 years, is said to be one of the seven auspicious thing of Chiang Mai area, Legend has it that this canal played a significant role in King Mangrai's decision-making process, ultimately leading to the establishment of Chiang Mai as the grand center of the Lanna Kingdom.

 

Over the years, Mae Kha Canal has evolved into a vital landmark for Chiang Mai. At one point, it fell into disrepair and became a neglected waterway. However, in recent times, efforts have been made to restore its glory, transforming it into a clean and beautiful canal. 

 

The walking path along both sides of the canal is lined with traditional community houses, adding to the charm of the area. Many of these houses have been turned into shops and restaurants, making it one of the most delightful walking districts in the city.
