Thailand to lift curfew on 15 June

The Royal Thai Government is lifting its two-month long night-time curfew starting from Monday 15 June.

Bangkok, 12 June, 2020, at 14.00 Hrs. – The Royal Thai Government is lifting its two-month long night-time curfew starting from Monday 15 June.

The Royal Thai Government agreed to lift the 23.00-03.00 Hrs. curfew, so that people could return to a more normal life. Many businesses have already been allowed to resume activities in three phases, on 3 May, 17 May and 1 June, respectively.

Thailand’s borders will also remain closed by land, sea and air with the international flight ban scheduled for review at the end of June.

Overall the Royal Thai Government believes that people had been cooperating well with the Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) control measures, which has led to a gradual relaxation of restrictions and allowed 95% of commercial enterprises to resume their business activities. This in turn has justified the fourth phase of loosening the business and nocturnal lockdowns.

Despite the improved COVID-19 situation in Thailand, which has seen zero new local cases for over two consecutive weeks, the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) would like to remind all to continue to adhere to health and safety routines to protect themselves, as well as others from the COVID-19 infection.

These include keeping social distancing, wearing a mask or cloth mask, and frequently washing hands. Avoid close contact with other persons, no hugging, especially with vulnerable groups like the elderly, or those who have underlying conditions because it can increase the infection rate and potentially lead to severe disease more easily than in other groups.

People can greet via a Wai (Thai greeting) from a distance of 1 or 2 metres. When staying together, people must wear masks, use personal utensils or serving spoons, or eat a la carte servings to protect themselves and loved ones from getting the disease.
