Bangkok, 27 March, 2020, at 15.00 Hrs. – The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) would like to inform international and domestic tourists that 22 air-conditioned express, rapid, sleeper and dining train services from Bangkok to the North, Northeast and South will be suspended from 1 April, 2020, until further notice.
The State Railway of Thailand (TAT) announced that the temporary suspension is in line with the Royal Thai Government’s declaration of state of emergency effect from yesterday, 26 March, 2020. Also, the trains were running at half capacity as people were currently avoiding travelling due to the Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic and the strict rules under the Emergency Decree.
The temporary suspension will affect six trains to the North on the Bangkok-Sawankhalok, Bangkok-Chiang Mai and Bangkok-Sila At lines; six trains to the Northeast on the Bangkok-Ubon Ratchathani and Bangkok-Nong Khai lines, and 10 trains to the South on the Bangkok-Hat Yai, Bangkok-Surat Thani, Bangkok-Yala, Bangkok-Trang, and Bangkok-Nakhon Si Thammarat lines.
Ordinary trains on the same routes remain in normal operation.
